Welcome to Year 6!

Our teachers are Miss Beamson and Mrs Guy is our Teaching Assistant.

Yr5 and 6 comparing New York to London

A huge well done to the children for all of the fantastic work they produced in our previous topic ‘Famous Faces’. Our focus for the term was Nelson Mandela and life in South Africa pre and post apartheid. Last term our PE topic was dance and children produced fantastic routines using a piece of music as a stimulus. They used a range of styles of dance including street, dubstep and contemporary and performed them for the rest of the class.

Spring 2

This half term our new topic is β€˜Come Fly With Me’ where we will be comparing the two cities of London and New York. We will be developing our geographical skills, writing travel brochures and creating graffiti art inspired New York artist Keith Haring.

In PE this term our new sport is Hockey. Children will be developing their passing accuracy, introducing new passing strokes and participating in matches both in school and in external competitions.

SATs week this year is from Monday 11th May – Thursday 14th May 2020. Booster classes will be taking place every Thursday 3-4pm to support children as much as possible in their preparation. Homework will be assigned each night from their homework books and will be marked in school the next day. Below is a link to provide information about the Key Stage 2 Assessments and ideas on how you can help your child at home.
